Global finds the winning formula for UKMCL 20-20 championship for 2014

Group Stages

Global’s path to victory started on 24th of May 2014 the UKMCL 20-20 tournament which got under way at Hainault with nine teams participating, Global drew against KCC2 and Griffins cricket club for the group stages.

Match reduced to 12 overs - KCC2 was bowled out for 54 with Global comfortably reaching the total within 7 overs.

For the second group match, Griffins set a target of 72 runs in reduced 16 overs match, Global’s Binu scored 49 runs not out and getting 3 wickets was easily the man on the match and guiding Global to another convincing victory within 8 overs and loss of 3 wickets.

Semi Final

In the Semi-Final Global got drew against MCC. The match was reduced to 12 overs, Global put MCC to bat first believing in their decisive bowling attack.

MCC scored 72 runs in 12 overs, Global reaching the total in 10 overs, Sharon and Binu providing most of the fire power Global losing only 1 wicket in the process.

The 2014 20-20 final was against EMCC

EMCC won the toss and elected to bowl first, Global set a target of 80 runs with Swami, Binu, Sharon, Adi and Simson all contributing their fair share, Sharon provided the fireworks with the few boundaries on a wet outfield.

Jijo and Robin got to a flying start opening the bowling attack, Robin dismissing EMCC’s top order cheaply, Jijo, Binu, Sharon and Simson all bowling with fire in their belly, with EMCC requiring 30 runs in the final 3 overs, and Global winning by over 20 runs.

Global stayed true to the tried and tested method which has got them through to their 4th final in 4 years and winning 2011 and 2014 20-20 tournament in style.
